Indian national basketball coaches, Veselin Matic (men’s) and Zoran Visic (women’s) conducted a basketball training programme from January 8 to 11, at the Don Bosco Oratory, Indoor Basketball Court.

Forty-six PE teachers and coaches attended the training sessions which were both theoretical and practical with emphasis on the need for basic training and elements of basketball that the PE teachers and coaches need to seriously consider. This is an initiative by Goa Basketball Association in an attempt to promote grassroots training in basketball.

The four full-day training programme was organized in association with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, after the successful completion of an earlier training programme conducted in September 2019 with over 85 participants. Five outstation and various school and club coaches from the State were part of the programme and appreciated the inputs and dynamic training sessions.

The two experienced Serbian coaches have conducted the programme for the first time in Goa, and were impressed with the interest and enthusiasm of the coaches in the programme. This programme was part of a series of training sessions directed towards PE teachers and grassroots development coaches, to streamline a systematic development programme for Goa in basketball.
