A feast of classical music

Music and dance festival Swarmangesh will be presenting its ninth edition from December 6-8 at Kala Academy in Panaji

Music and dance festival Swarmangesh 2019,  presented by Rajdeep Builders and organised by Swastik Cultural Association will be holding its ninth edition this year in the fond memory of Master Dinanath Mangeshkar. The festival will be held between December 6-8 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Hall, Kala Academy. It will be inaugurated by chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant. Renowned actor Nana Patekar will be present as the guest of honour. 


Festival outline

December 6: The event will open with a performance by Goan artist Yadnesh Raikar’s violin recital  followed by a vocal recital by Sawani Shende - a renowned vocalist from Pune. This will be followed by a vocal recital by the most famous duo  Pt Rajan and Sajan Misra. They will be accompanied by Ojas Adhiya on tabla and Vinay Mishra on harmonium.  

December 7: The second day will be kick started by Priya Purushothaman, a young talented vocalist from Bengaluru. This will be followed by a classical vocal performance by Dr Pravin Gaonkar. Yashwant Vaishnav, a talented young tabla artist from Chattisgarh will present a tabla solo. 

Further on, there will be Ut. Rashid Khan who has been a part of this festival from its commencement. He will be accompanied by the very famous tabla player Akram Khan (Delhi), Murad Ali on Sarangi and Vinay Mishra on harmonium.   

December 8:  A classical vocal performance by Meher Paralikar - a disciple of the great maestro Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty followed by the performances by the very talented and accomplished Kathak dancers Rudra Shankar Mishra and Sneha Bajaj hailing all the way from Banaras and accompanied by Uday Shankar Mishra on tabla, Abid Hussain on Sarangi and Manoj Desai on harmonium as well as vocal support. Swarmangesh will conclude with a sitar recital by Ut. Shahid Parvez. He will be accompanied by Ustad Akram Khan on tabla.  


Swarmangesh Festival is  supported by Department of Art & Culture, Government of Goa Kala Academy and Ministry of Culture, Government of India. There will also be an exhibition of books on music, music instruments, audio CDs and authentic Goan food stall. The festival is open to all music lovers. The programme will begin at 3:45 pm on all three days.
