In order to make the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) a single-window for all industrial approvals, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has issued instructions to ensure that once a project gets IPB’s approval, it should start construction within 15 days to one month.

The IPB held a review meeting earlier on Tuesday, which was chaired by Sawant.

Later at a press conference, the CM explained about his instructions to the board. He said, “From now on, whenever an investment proposal is submitted to IPB, a scrutinizing committee will check it in the first 15 days. This is to check if the project meets certain criteria. For example, if  it is a red category project, then it is a no.”

“Once the scrutinizing committee clears the proposal, it will go to IPB. After getting IPB’s approval, the industrialist will be able to actually start construction within 15 days to one month. Once a proposal goes to IPB, it will be solely responsible to get all clearances from the departments concerned,” Sawant added.

In the last five years since its formation, it has been observed that projects approved by IPB find it very tough to get approvals from other departments and also to get land.

Sawant’s instructions to IPB were to ensure that approved projects face no hassles from other departments and also start construction at their site within 15 days to one month.

Once these instructions are notified, IPB will become a single-window for all industrial approvals in true spirit, which will also help in improving ease of doing business in the State.
