2 fast track children’s courts mooted

To cut down on trial durations for cases involving child victims, Goa is aiming to set up at least two fast track courts and Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane, who also holds the Women and Child department, has sought the Centre’s nod to set them up.   

Rane junior, who is in Delhi, met with Union Minister Smriti Irani and sought sanction for the two proposed fast track courts.   

Rane said the courts will be set up to speed up trials of cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) in both districts - North and South Goa.   

The minister met with Union Minister Smriti Irani and other Union cabinet ministers.   

Rane has also sought help for the purpose of building a World-Class Skilling Institute in Goa, claiming that the State will tie-up with the top-notch skilling institutes like ITE in Singapore and Temasek Polytechnic.Rane tweeted that he discussed at the meetings with various Cabinet ministers in Delhi, the status for schmes besides raising the 

issue of Nirbhaya Fund utilization in Sstates under the hashtag #OneStopCentres and Universal Women Helpline (181).   

“I have requested her to sanction 2 fast track courts in Goa and for speedy justice in cases of child sexual abuse and for approval on additional 100 Anganwadi centers for the state of Goa, Rane said after meeting with Irani, adding that he also discussed interventions needed for growth of rural women entrepreneurs, livelihoods and market linkages.
