A committee under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday zeroed in on Mumbai-based M/s VCJ Architecture and Environment to execute the late Manohar Parrikar Smriti Sthal project (memorial) at Miramar.

The foundation stone for the memorial will be laid on Parrikar’s birthday ie December 13. The memorial is being built at Miramar beach where Parrikar’s mortal remains were consigned to the flames after his death as Chief Minister in office on March 17, 2019.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Sawant in his budget speech had announced the construction of a memorial in memory of late Manohar Parrikar wherein he made a provision for Rs 10 crore for the project in the budget.

The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) is the nodal agency which will execute the work of the memorial. The GSIDC has invited expression of interest from architectural firms specialising in planning and design of memorial structures.

Total 17 bids have been received out of which 5 have been shortlisted by GSIDC for the design work.
