East Bengal to pick Dempo’s Das on loan

MARGAO: Dempo Sports Club have agreed to release wing back Naryan Das on loan to Kingfisher East Bengal in the ongoing I-League according to close sources. Defender Das had a fantastic inaugural Hero Indian Super League and was injured in the return match against ATK.Das is unlikely to play against Mumbai Football Club on Sunday at the Co-operage ground,Mumbai. Meanwhile,East Bengal have completed their foreign quota with the addition of seasoned France defender Bernard Mendy who was the member of Chennaiyin FC winners of 2nd edition of ISL and added valuable experience to the squad. PANAJI: The Goa Cricket Association President Chetan Desai has congratulated the Goa women’s senior team for finishing third in the All India T20 cricket tournament hosted in Indore, Madhya Pradesh recently. “It is a matter of great pride that Shikha Pandey and the rest of the members of the team stood third in this high ranking T20 tournament for women in India. GCA will always endeavour to help those working hard.This achievement is the result of hard work,” stated Desai.

Meanwhile, the GFA has appointed GFA executive member John Silva as Chef de Mission of Goa Santosh trophy squad. In the qualifying round, host Goa has been clubbed with Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Daman and Diu and will commence from February 9 to 19 .

GCA trials for U-23 women’s team

PANAJI: The selection trials to select Goa Under-23 women’s cricket team will be held on January 17 at 9.30 am at GCA Indoor grounds, Porvorim. Players should report to Anuradha Redkar. Players born on or after September 1, 1992 are eligible for selection. Players will have to carry their original birth certificate compulsorily.
