If you are a non-Goan and required to undergo quarantine, you may end up in paying an amount of Rs 2500 per day as quarantine charges to the government.

In fact, a latest order issued by the South Goa district Collector, Ajit Roy has said that a consolidate amount of Rs 2500 per day per person (all inclusive) will be charged in the quarantine centres for non-Goans.

In the order, the district Collector stated that all the persons entering into Goa will be sent to the institutional quarantine centre for testing on arrival. “If the test results are negative, they will be discharged on the same day to be sent on home quarantine for 14 days”, he said, further saying that accommodation will not be charged for those producing proof of address in Goa during their stay in quarantine centre.

The Collector’s order further states that food will be chargeable as per prevailing rates if provided by the quarantine centre. The order, however, added that own

arrangement for food can be made by the persons in quarantine.

Taking exception to the latest order issued by South Goa Collecotor, the  Aam Aadmi party said that orders like the one issued by Collector South suggests that the government has run out of quarantine options as contrary to tall claims,  no capacities were built in the past one month.

“With now discharge being given on the same day after testing negative, the government needs to look into the cases of forced quarantine, who also have tested negative and are occupying the GTDC Residencies  and told to pay for food”, AAP State Covnenor Elvis Gomes stated.

He also questioned behind the logic in charging non Goans Rs 2500/- per day.
