North Goa District Magistrate has permitted all pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, pathology labs and grocery shops operating in North Goa district to operate during the lockdown period.

The authorised signatories of such pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, pathology labs and grocery shops will issue necessary travel permits to their bonafide employees. The employees are permitted to travel on foot or by two wheelers to reach their workplace and back. Employees have been asked to carry authorisation of their employers and authorised signatory with the shop address. All the safety precautions as advised by the Health Department including social distancing of people to prevent the spread of COVID-19 should be adhered to strictly, the DM has said.

Meanwhile, in view of the shortage of medical supplies and drugs reported across the state, the DM (North Goa) has appealed to all pharmaceutical employees to join their duties willingly. The DM has further appealed to all house owners, society chairpersons and villagers to allow pharmaceutical employees to go for their work. The DM has assured the employees that all pharmaceutical companies have promised to take care of the hygiene of their employees so that they are not infected with any disease.

The DM further mentioned that if the pharmaceutical employees do not join the work, they are liable to be booked under the provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2005. The same punishment will apply to those who do not allow pharmaceutical employees to proceed to work.
