The inappropriate scheduling of a written test for recruitment of lower division clerks (LDCs) in the Women and Child Development department on Republic Day has unnerved a section of the nearly 8,000 candidates expected to take the exam on Sunday.

Also, most of the candidates received their call letters to answer the recruitment test just two days ago, upsetting their preparations to take the exam.

The examination is being conducted under the new regime for recruitment of non-gazetted employees under the Goa State Selection Commission which was recently constituted by a law enacted by the Goa legislative assembly.

The Congress meanwhile, condemned the scheduling of the written tests for the LDC posts on Republic Day beginning from 9.30 am to 5 pm saying it has displayed “disrespect to the historic day” when the Constitution was adopted by the country.

A statement issued by

Congress spokesperson, Trajano D’Mello said, the public holiday meant for every citizen to meditate on the values of the Constitution is reduced to dust with the State government scheduling the recruitment on this day.

“It exposes the contempt this government has for the Constitution,” D’Mello said, adding that the Congress strongly denounces the attitude of the government.
