Students at the government schools in Mangor and Zuarinagar were given awareness talks by the Vasco police on ways to be vigilant and to prevent kidnappings in schools.

The Vasco police were interacting with students as part of a “Police Cadet-Know your Police” interactive session.

The students who were accompanied by their teachers were also given detailed information about the work of the police and the traffic cell.

Later speaking to reporters, Vasco Police Inspector Nilesh Rane said students present for the session were given an understanding on the role of police in society and how they can be better friends of police.

“We gave them talks and engaged them in drills and also made them familiar with our arms and ammunition. We gave a small talk on how kidnappings take place in schools and how they can be vigilant while they are travelling and not to touch any unattended objects.”

“We also had a demonstration on how someone could lure them and kidnap them. It was a small attempt to create awareness among these students, said PI Rane.

Teachers present at the session thanked the Vasco Police for imparting valuable information to students, to identify criminal activities and to stay vigilant. Teachers also appreciated the State government for introducing such a programme for students.
