Around 25,000 applications have already been received for the 1000-odd posts advertised by the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), the process for which is ongoing.
An official from the GMC told The Goan on Wednesday that around 80-85% of the application forms that were taken by prospective candidates have already been submitted back at the GMC. Several candidates have applied for multiple posts since they have the minimum required qualification in several of the posts advertised.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said via social media on Wednesday that the date for submission of all applications will be extended for another 10 days. Recruitment will then be carried out in a phased manner after NOCs for the posts come from the personnel department.
The official further stated that given the lengthy procedure of the recruitment process, it is likely to go on for a couple of months.
Last week, there was some confusion about whether the recruitment process would carry on account of a note issued by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to all secretaries stating that a new staff selection commission will carry out the recruitment process. However, as of now, the recruitment at the GMC has been going on as scheduled.
