Following Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s ‘note’ which rendered all job advertisements in August-September null and void, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday hit out at the former for creating confusion amongst job seekers.

Congress President Girish Chodankar said that Sawant’s directions to withdraw all advertisements issued by various departments for filling up vacancies is nothing but “an act of playing with the sentiments of thousands of unemployed Goan youth and the emotions of their parents and dependents.”

“The government just showed the ‘carrot of jobs’ to the unemployed youth of Goa in the last two years, while keeping an eye on the recently held Lok Sabha elections. The truth is BJP is not interested in providing government jobs to anyone,” Chodankar said in a press note.

“The BJP government has a single point agenda of favouritism to their kith and kin and party cadres. The benefits of contracts, jobs are made available to close relatives and friends of those in power,” he added.

The party also cautioned the government against playing with the livelihood of the youth as it could lead to unprecedented unrest.

Meanwhile, AAP general secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar said that thousands of youth and their parents were put to great inconvenience in merely collecting a form for job application.

“Why were ordinary people troubled during Ganesh Chaturthi to leave everything and come to Bambolim (GMC) for merely an application form?” Padgaonkar

questioned.

He said that reports that the GMC recruitment was being cancelled is a war for supremacy between the Health Minister and the Chief Minister for control on the recruitment process.
