Encouraging talent in classical music

One of Goa’s prestigious singing contests, Samraat Sangeet Sitara 2019, was  held at Institute Menezes Braganza in Panaji recently. The event received an overwhelming response from lovers of classical music across Goa and surrounding region.  

Gauri Pathare was the chief judge for the competition. She inaugurated Samraat Sangeet Sitara 2019 by lighting traditional lamp in the presence of Deepak Narvekar, chairman of Samraat Sangeet Sitara 2019 and the office bearers Gautam Kharangate Pravin Sabnis, Adv. Deepak Tilve, Yogesh Hirve, Judge Shilpa Duble and Vibhavari Prabhudesai. Gauri Pathare shared her views during the inauguration ceremony.  Deepak Narvekar welcomed the gathering and Secretary  Gautam Kharangate proposed vote of thanks at the inaugural ceremony.

Later, six final contestants, Chinmay Karve, Chaitanya Parab, Ms Mukta Misar, Sanil Parsekar, Ms Tanisha Maujekar and Sanket Sapre presented resounding performance at the event. Gauri Pathare Mahaguru  also delivered a classical singing concert which was deeply appreciated by the listeners. 

Govind Gaude, minister for Art and Culture, was the chief guest for the award ceremony along with other dignitaries. Deepak Narvekar chairman of Samraat Saneet Sitara, welcomed the chief guests and shared insights about the develoment of Samraat Sangeet Sitara. Narvekar  mentioned that Samraat Club is preserving classical music and culture in Goa by providing encouragement to  budding talent in Goa. Minister Govind Gaude praised the efforts of Samraat Sangeet Sitara team and complemented the contestants for their outstanding performance. Gaude mentioned that such events will be supported by the government to offer a platform to young artists.

Taking the programme ahead, Gauri Pathare declared the winners. Sanket Sapre emerged the winner of the contest whereas Tanisha Maujekar stood  second  and Chaitanya Parab stood third. Cash prizes, trophies and certificates were awarded to winners and participants by minister for Art and Culture, Govind  Gawde. He also felicitated Gauri Pathare by presenting memento on behalf of Samraat Sangeet Sitara.

Dr Uday Kudalkar Treasurer Samraat Sangeet Sitara, Gautam Kharangate, Nanda Majik, Kajal Chodankar, Manoj Karapurkar, Bhalchandra Naik, Shailesh Borkar, Avin Naik,  Apsar Shaikh and Ranjit Patil extended their full cooperation and assistance during the contest along with others. Directorate of Art and Culture, Goa Tourism, Institute Menezes Braganza, Atreya Vedic Farm, Minister for Science and Technology Michael Lobo, Anil Counto,  Alcon Group  were sponsors of the event along with other entities.
