Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday told media persons that the government had not put any pressure on taxi operators to withdraw their strike, but had made it clear that the app-based taxi service would continue.
“The app-based taxi service is the only solution and this has been my appeal always. With time, we have to upgrade technology and I have convinced them.”
“They have to take steps to sustain business and think of the long term. The taxi sector and tourism industry needs a long term solution and all other legislators and ministers also persuaded them.”
“Finally, they decided to withdraw their strike. Some taxi operators may or may not join the app and that is their call. We have not forced them and they can run independently also,” said Sawant.
