Tiatr Mogi

A revengeful life has a sorry end. A life where thoughts and feelings of revenge take centre stage in your mind and the motto and aim of your life are cornered around the feelings of revenge, there is surely one end; self-destruction! But when the  approach of forgiveness is applied to the person blindfolded with the shawl of revenge, the end seems interesting and this climaxes the plot of the tiatr Eke Sunecho Kaido that is currently being presented all over Goa.

Script

The script is simple and predictable but the climax is the crown of glory. The script is written in the non-stop drama style with comedy scenes running parallel to the main story line. Scenes unfold giving entertaining twists and turns to the plot but a question remains unanswered. Will a girl really walk the unexpected line miring her future in a cloud of insecurity just to avenge being put to shame for her unbecoming dress code?

The tiatr could have taken an interesting and befitting climax if the proceedings of the tiatr were changed with the entry of the married couple with the daughter in law understanding and performing her duties with dedication making the revenge sweeter.

Comedy

The tiatr features clean and decent comedy by and large but Sally would have earned better brownie points if he had omitted the few indirect references to indecency. The writer com. Sally is recognized as one of the topmost comedians of tiatr stage and it will be in his best interests to uphold the dignity of Konkani stage by dishing out decent comedy in his tiatrs. The comedy of this tiatr is in the non stop tiatr style with the storyline of the comedy scenes running parallel to the main plot. However, efforts were made to incorporate comedy in the main plot by bringing the comic characters in a main scene but that turned out as a patchwork.

Sets

The sets by Saldanha were modest and depicted the financial status of the family. Office scenes were enacted on a blue curtain which can be expected but then the lack of furniture in the office made the area look like an open hall. The comedy scenes was enacted on a house curtain which was acceptable.

Acting

The tiatr has the right set of artistes and the character they play seems tailormade for each one. Victor as the loving son is fabulous. Trindade gives in his best but at times was too melodramatic. He was however great as the strict manager. Dacia had very less to do but she did it with ease. Crostina was the girl to watch displaying a plethora of emotions and carries the entire tiatr on her efficient shoulders. However her actual dress code for the introduction scene wasn’t so indecent to merit a dressing from the manager.

The comedy was well enacted. Com. Sally leads by example getting the house down in peels of laughter quite a lot of times and comedian Aurelio provided great support. Comedian Marcos too did his best. Alina is the new girl in comedy attire. She has a good dialogue delivery but need to catch up with the others by being a little flexible in her moves.

Music/songs:

The band music had good interludes and introductions however the second trumpet was weak and ineffective. The songs were entertaining. There are great Solos by a little girl, Dacia and Malita. The singing siblings Wilma and Peviola render two great songs in a style that they are known for. There are good duets, trio, and also a quartet that is fully entertaining.

The only scar on the otherwise clean slate was the song by Rosario de Benaulim. Rosario is rated as one of the topmost singers on the stage. But then the audience was totally dismayed as he sang an old solo that was previously sung in Roseferns tiatr. The audience surely does not buy a ticket priced at a hundred and fifty rupees to hear an old song. Com Sally should take note of this.

Direction

The direction was great and the director managed to get the best not only from the artistes but also from the lights operator and the background music provider. A good performance to watch. A good entertainment; ‘divertiment’as it is called, is guaranteed.
