The Cuncolim Block Congress Committee on Tuesday asserted that party MLA Clafacio Dias will not quit the party, saying the MLA will be very much part of the party in the future.
Addressing the media, the Congress leaders however made it abundantly clear that they will remain in the party even if the MLA takes a decision to leave and join any other party.
Cuncolim Block Congress President Landry Mascarenhas told the media that the Cuncolim MLA is not going anywhere and will be part of the Congress in the future as well.
Congress District Vice-President Deepak Kharangate said Clafacio has made it clear that he is not leaving the Congress. He blamed the government for floating rumours in a bid to tarnish the image of the Opposition for its selfish gains since the ruling dispensation has failed on all fronts, including mining.
Deepak further demanded to know why the government has targeted only the Cuncolim MLA on the stone crusher issue when there are other crushers operating in the vicinity. When asked whether he will join the MLA if the latter quits the party, Deepak firmly ruled out the possibility of leaving the party, saying he would continue to work for the party irrespective of any developments.
