Goan FC began their Goa Football Association U-18 League campaign with an impressive 3-0 win over Salgaocar Football Club at Cansaulim ground, on Wednesday. Asfin Pinto scored a brace while Wasim Imamdar netted the other goal.

Goan FC started the match on an attacking note and soon broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Joybert tried his luck from the left of the box, as the Salgaocar FC keeper’s save fell into  Wasim’s path and the lad made no mistake to score from close range.

Later, Salgaocar FC keeper came to his team’s rescue with a good save to push Meuton Fernandes’ free-kick out of the box to thwart the danger. Joubert was set up by Asfin who later played in Wasim, who had another chance to score with only the keeper at his mercy but the striker’s  effort went over the bar.

While Salgaocar FC were trying their best to score, Goan FC came up with their second goal when Wasim played Asfin on the left wing and the player did great from a tight angle when he lobbed the ball over the onrushing Salgaocar FC keeper.

Salgaocar once again came close to scoring but their skipper Aaron Barretto’s effort was saved by the Goan FC keeper. Asfin Pinto scored the team’s third and his second when he connected the  ball past the onrushing keeper after being fed by Meuton. All 3 goals came in the first

half.
