Canacona team Cocktails n Dreams defeated Cansaulim’s Faria Strikers 6-5 to emerge as the champions of the first beach soccer tournament organised by the village panchayat and youth of Calata, Majorda Utorda.
In all 32 teams from all over Goa participated in the tournament held at Utorda beach from May 7 to 12 as part of the summer festival.
Panchayat minister Mauvin Godinho was the chief guest and said all coastal panchayat should organise beach soccer tournaments to promote football. Winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs one lakh while the runners-up won Rs 75,000.
