Stating that Lok Sabha elections are crucial to decide the country’s future and its identity and security, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appealed to the people to vote for the BJP and show the Congress Party its true place, so much so that their candidates lose their deposits.

Addressing a large gathering at a public meeting organized by the BJP in Vasco, Fadnavis also described Congress President Rahul Gandhi as only an entertainer who should not be taken seriously.

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, BJP LS candidate Adv Narendra Sawaikar and former speaker Rajendra Arlekar were also present at the public meeting.

Fadnavis came out heavily on the Congress by terming the party as anti-national and claiming that its manifesto stressed on reducing the powers of the army and scrapping of Article 124 A.

“Today, the army is doing its best to protect us by killing terrorists and conducting surgical strikes to avenge the deaths of our martyrs. The Congress has openly declared that they will reduce the power of the army.”

“Today under Section 124A, we can jail anti-nationals for ten years. A few days ago, some students shouted slogans against India and threatened they will cut the country into pieces. They shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ after which Section 124A was slapped on them. However, the Congress was hurt. They decided to scrap Section 124A and promote anti-national activities,” Fadnavis said.

“Rahul Gandhi is making false assurances of eliminating poverty. Congress politicians have only indulged in corruption and have never worked for the downtrodden. It is only Narendra Modi who has worked for the downtrodden and helped poor people open bank accounts, so that they receive monetary benefits of schemes directly in their accounts. This goes on to show transparency in government affairs,” Fadnavis added.
