In a major boost to independent candidate Jeet Arolkar barely days before the Mandrem bypoll, the MGP has officially declared its support to him and party workers will actively campaign for Arolkar.
Confirming this to local reporters, MGP’s Central Committee member Shridhar Mandrekar on Thursday said the MGP has officially declared its support to Arolkar.
“There are a large number of voters loyal to MGP in Mandrem constituency and party workers have been entrusted the task of campaign actively to ensure Arolkar’s victory in the Mandrem bypoll,” said Mandrekar.
“Mandrem has been a stronghold of the MGP and I myself got elected thrice as ZP member with the support of MGP workers.”
Mandrekar lauded Arolkar’s role as a social worker.
“Arolkar is a social worker at heart and he had ably displayed his social work by sponsoring the return of 12 people to their homes in Mandrem, after they were stranded in the devastating floods in Kerala last year.”
“In addition, Arolkar had also provided financial assistance to late Sanskruti Kamble, a girl from a poor family of Tuyem, who later died from the extremely rare Goodpasture Syndrome,” Mandrekar said.
Mandrekar was confident of Arolkar’s victory in the Mandrem bypoll.
“Nearly 60% of voters are behind Arolkar and his victory is ensured,” said the MGP leader.
