PONDA: A day after Union Minister Nitin Gadakari appealed to people to finish the political careers of the Dhavalikar brothers, MGP senior leader and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar hit back by challenging Gadkari to try and end their careers.
“If Gadkari has the guts to finish our political careers, let him try. Nobody can throw us out of politics and surely, not the person who comes from Nagpur,” said Sudin, while addressing a corner meeting in Borim in the presence of MGP candidate Deepak Dhavalikar, Abhay Prabhu and others.
“Instead, people must throw out those who are misguiding them,” said the former deputy chief minister.
"We are not ready to listen to those coming from Nagpur. The Dhavalikar family is not dependent on him. The people of Goa are with us.”
Referring to Gadkari's statement asking Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar to make an audit of Sudin Dhavalikar's work, Sudin hit back and said the people of Goa have been doing audit of the BJP.
Sudin, however, praised Gadkari for his efforts to resolve the mining issue and said the union minister had taken positive steps in the matter.
“But someone stopped him from going ahead with it. I know Gadkari has the capacity to resolve the mining issue. He should come out in the open and say who had stopped him taking his plans ahead,” Sudin said.
"Gadkari is a man of vision who can do very good work in infrastructure. Gadkari spoke well at Mandrem, but when he reached Ponda he attacked us. What happened during his travel from Mandrem to Ponda? Who instigated him against us,” asked Sudin, while claiming that the BJP would be defeated by 35,000 votes in the Lok Sabha elections.
