Living a dream from one’s nascent years into their youth is fueled through abiding passion and diligence. Meet 20-year-old Sharon Dias from Porvorim who is nurturing her ambition towards becoming a name to reckon with in the world of glamour.

As recently as last week, the lissome lass came third at the Rubaru Miss India Elite 2019 in New Delhi apart from winning the Miss Intellectual sub-title, a small step yet to a larger platform she aims to conquer with positivism and self-belief. Her third place at the national pageant secures Dias’ maiden foray overseas as an India representative at the Miss World Noble Queen International to be held in Japan in July.

Winning the title, Miss World Noble Queen India 2019 in the Capital City of the country on March 17, meant a lot to the 5 ft 6 inch ravishing beauty. “The title is a privilege. From now onwards, it is going to be my work towards the society, to help the people around, to pass good character to them and bring a change towards my State and country as well,” the third-placed Rubaru Miss India Elite 2019 contestant maintained.

“I won Miss World Noble Queen India. The meaning of my title, ‘Noble Queen’ is someone with an elevated character, who possesses high morals as courage, bravery, generosity and honour towards the country or society,” the St Xavier’s College student explained.

Talking of her preparations for the recently concluded Rubaru Miss India Elite 2019, she revealed that it was immense and intense as well.

“Four months prior, I started getting prepped up for the pageant, whether it was mentally or physically, whether it was my diet, physical fitness, communication skills, walk or talk. I worked on every aspect and what it takes to be one of the contestants of Miss India elite. Even when it came to current issues, I was quite updated with it. We need to know what is happening in our day to day life. In fact, I began my preparations for Rubaru Miss India Elite four months prior to Neutral View Miss Goa,” Dias divulged.

The radiant beauty with a disarming smile recalls to being attracted to the world of glamour since her teething years. “Ever since I was a kid, I was attracted to this industry. “I always used to love to put on clips and dress up as a kid. My mom used to dress me up like a doll,” she fondly reminiscised.

Speaking further she said she could not think of getting into any other profession apart from modelling. “I had set my goal right from the beginning that I want to take a step up in this industry,” the Travel & Tourism student disclosed.

Her initial tryst in fashion though was met with rejection. “I still remember when I was like 16 and barely out of school, I had seen a banner at a mall regarding Miss Goa which stated 18 years and above as one of the criterion. Despite that, I told my mom no matter what I want to go for it. I got my photos done, got the form filled and sent. After a few days, I got the audition call. The judges there asked me my age after which they told me to try the following year as I was not 18 yet. No doubt, I was disappointed and heartbroken at that time as I was not selected. I said okay, and I will give it a try again,” Dias recounted.

The 2015 pageant setback notwithstanding, opportunities would abound thereafter with her promise, passion and perseverance. She did her first fashion show while in Std XII and subsequently started working on her walk as more ramp shows began to beckon her. In 2016, Dias walked for her first major fashion show, Goa International Fashion Week for a couple of designers.

Thereafter, she began to get calls for designer shoots doing boutique shoots and appearing in the Creative Eye magazine. 2016-2017 was the phase she was inundated with a lot of fashion shoot and show offers. But pageantry came calling again. It was through Newton Sir (Dias) that I came across Neutral View Miss Goa 2018.

“I gave it my best. I worked hard to be one of the contestants. We had our grooming too (ahead of finale). I was eventually declared the second runner-up of Neutral View Miss Goa 2018,” she proudly stated.

On hindsight, she added, “I think my journey from the beginning, in 2015 till now (2019) has been tremendous. There was a bit of failure here and there but I think that was something that brought me up and made me be where I am today. I got a lot of experience and exposure whether it was through fashion shows or shoots. My experiences have really molded me and that is why I’m here today winning Rubaru Miss World Noble Queen India title,” a delighted Dias averred.

While unwilling to reveal much on her preparations for her first international pageant in July, she has this much to say. “I will definitely be an emotionally, physically, mentally and morally strong person with more determination. I will work hard on every element of it to be at the top position. Whether it is on communication skills or being updated on my current affairs or working towards my physical fitness and everything else, I will do my best and do my country proud,” the beauty queen declared.
