Awareness on hygiene

Yuva Panaji, organized menstrual hygiene awareness and sanitary pad distribution programme on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 10 in Dona Paula slum area.

Chief guest Amey Panvelkar, Yuva advisor and Sinami Shetye, owner, Sinami Hygiene Company were present at the event. 

Sinami Shetye explained the menstruation process and urged women from slum not to treat it as a taboo in the society. She also focused on safe practices to be carried out and hygiene to be maintained. 

Yuva member Dr Shaileja Chopdekar explained the hygiene practices to be carried out during menstrual period and addressed queries of women personally. Amey Panvelkar expressed happiness over the initiative of Yuva by reaching out to slum areas and creating awareness on such a sensitive issues.

Yuva distributed over 50 packets of sanitary napkins to people in the slums. President, Yuva, Aakash Khaunte appreciated the team for such a noble cause of educating people on life issue and personally reaching out to them. 

Founder, Yuva Raghuvir Mahale expressed gratitude to Sinami Shetye and Jayashree Parwar (Sakhi) for providing napkins for concessional prices for free distribution. 

The programme was supported by El Shaddai and was led by Yuva member Pranav Prabhu Parrikar and Gopinath Chandelkar. Pranav informed that YUVA will try and reach out to more slums in the city with this awareness programme and help in eliminating myths in the society.
