Housing Minister and Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar has said the State government has decided to set up a Rural Medical Dispensary and Physiotherapy Centre for the aged people at Pilerne.

He was speaking at Guirim during a health camp organised by youth wing of Goa Forward Party in association with RG stone hospital, Porvorim, for the old aged home ‘Amazing Grace’.

“There is a land of around of 2,500 sq mtrs owned by Provedoria in Pilerne, which was earmarked for the Saligao Police station. In this plot, I have proposed a Rural Medical Dispensary and Physiotherapy Centre instead of the police station and the process to hand over the land to the Directorate of Health Services has begun, said Salgaonkar.

Salgaonkar further said there should not be any aged home in the State.

“However, old-aged homes are increasing in the State every year and therefore, it becomes the moral responsibility of each and every citizen to take care of the health of people residing in these old-aged homes.”

“The-old aged home ‘Amazing Grace’ requires financial assistance to improve its infrastructure. I will try to use my good offices to provide necessary help to this home to offer better services to the inmates,” Salgaonkar added.

Goa Forward Party Vice President Durgadas Kamat said the young wing of the party would organise more health camps in Goa in the near future.

President of Goa Forward Party Youth Wing Raj Malik and the councillor of Margao Municipal council Pooja Naik also spoke on this occasion.

A team of doctors from RG Stone Hospital at Porvorim led by Dr Vikram Patil conducted blood tests, tested the blood pressure, performed ECGs of the old aged people and prescribed medicines

for them.
