Through the eyes of GIM alumni

Goa Institute of Management (GIM) recently organised its annual Grand Alumni Meet 2019 - a platform for alumni of various batches to interact with the current batch of students and reminisce about the good old times. The Grand Alumni Meet 2019 was the largest ever GIM alumni gathering in the history of its 25 years. Fr Romuald D’Souza, founder director was present at the inaugural ceremony along with Dr Ajit Parulekar, director, GIM, Prof Ashoka Chandra, Prof TK Nair, Peter FX D’Lima and Prof  Anamika Sinha. Said Dr. Parulekar, “The quality of an institution depends on two things - the impact of the research they do and the performance of their alumnus. This evening is a testimony to that thought”.

 On the ocassion, GIM felicitated its first six pioneer batches with a mementos as a token of gratitude. Srinivas Chunduru, an alumni of GIM Batch of 1996-98 who is presently the senior advisor on the Board of Directors for Ola was awarded with the distinguished Alumni of the Year award. In his address he said, “They say that opportunities knock at our door only once, but the reality is it never knocks. We need to take risks; we need to grab opportunities by ourselves”. He added, “The secret of happiness is when you know the purpose behind what you are doing” while encouraging them to be focused in their approach.

Alumni of GIM joined in and shared their thoughts on the occasion. Ajay Furtado, Director and Partner in Fourth Signal and an alumni said “The habits we picked up in the two years at GIM help us even now, in all our business endeavors.” Gaurav Golwalkar, founder of Buy Test Series said, “The only thing I learnt here and remember all the time is I’ve been taking opportunities as they come. We can’t wait for the right one to come.”

Manoj John, vice president - Strategic Initiatives at K K Birla Group Company said, “At times things work out, at times they don’t, and when they don’t, you only need to be positive and keep moving ahead- what matters is the confidence in you”. 

The meet included band performances and a stand-up comedy act. The session proved to be a learning experience for the students of GIM, who witnessed the growth of the esteemed institute through the eyes of their alumni.
