Odisha prevailed over Tamil Nadu by two wickets in the Elite Group C Women’s U-19 One Day League match at Goa Cricket Academy ground, Porvorim on Tuesday.

Electing to bat first, Tamil Nadu required a captain’s knock by S B Keerthana, who crafted an unbeaten 76 (112b, 6x4) as her side ended on 162/9 in 50 overs. In the Odisha attack, Subhra Nirjharini Swain had the best returns

of 2/24.

In reply, Odisha were made to work hard to reach 164/8 with eight deliveries to spare. Coming in to bat at number six, Sweet Beura played a match-winning unbeaten 44-run knock that sealed the issue for her side. K N Ramyashri shone in the Tamil Nadu attack with impressive 3/27 figures from her 10-over quota.

In another match at MCC, Margao, Gujarat thumped a hapless Tripura by 82 runs. Gujarat chose to bat first and were restricted to a modest 146/7. I M Patel top-scored with 46. Tumpa Das impressed in the Tripura attack with 2/16 from her completed quota.

In reply, Tripura crashed to 64 all out in 36.2 overs. While extras (21) was their innings top single tally, off the bat, captain Ambika Debnath’s 18 was the highest score. For Tripura, Hiralben Solanki with 4/9 was a stand-out performance in an otherwise abject overall unit.

On Wednesday, Goa play Vidarbha at MCC, while Gujarat take on Jammu & Kashmir in Porvorim and Saurashtra face Tamil Nadu

in Sanguem.
