Panjim Footballers registered a thumping 8-1 win over Bardez Football Club in a Goa Professional League match, organised by GFA, at Duler stadium, here on Tuesday.

The match was a one-way traffic as the capital side had an easy outing, pumping in four goals at the breather. The highlight of the match was a four-goal blitz by U-20 striker Delton Colaco.

Panjim opened their account in the 14th minute when Delton collected a through pass from Clifton Fernandes and slotted the ball into the back of the nets, 1-0. Just four minutes later, Chandan Gawas dribbled past a host of Bardez defenders and was brought down by Nehal Parab inside the penalty box, prompting the referee to point to the penalty spot. Kunal Kundaikar stepped forward and scored 2-0.

As the match progressed, the Panjim colts carried on their onslaught and netted in the third goal when Delton chested down a long pass from Daryl Costa and placed it to the far corner of the goal, 3-0. Daryl then collected a through pass from Valmiki Miranda and placed the ball past a helpless-looking Bardez keeper Elesh

Shirvoikar, 4-0.

On crossing over, Panjim Footballers’ hunger for goals did not stop as Delton completed his hat-trick with a fierce left-footer from inside the 18-yard box, 5-0. Bardez coach Savio D’Souza replaced keeper Elesh in the 51st minute, bringing in Urgen Pinto from the bench.

However, the keeper could do very little to stop their opponents from hammering in two more goals in the 57th and 60th minutes through Delton and substitute Lokesh Talwar, 7-0.

Amid the opposition barrage, the Bardez lads had something to smile about as they scored in the 65th minute with the opposition defenders napping. Carlton Cabral sent a square pass to Aniket Agarwadekar, who finished with a stiff grounder, 7-1. However, it was not the end of the misery for Bardez as three minutes before the final whistle, Panjim Footballers hammered the final nail into the Bardez coffin to make it 8-1.
