Goa Chitra Ethnographic Museum organizes varied workshops to promote ethnic and contemporary art practices to introduce our community to new techniques and give our participants, an opportunity to hone their artistic talents. Enamel is part of an ancestral Egyptian tradition dating from the 3rd century. The technique began with the Celts who fired enamel on a bronze support to make delicate jewellery. The Egyptians replaced bronze for gold, and much later, the school of Limoges worked further on this technique to replace gold with copper. Offering an opportunity for enthusiastic learners from Goa to indulge into traditional enameling techniques, play with design and discover their creative side, Goa Chitra is conducting a workshop in a unique art form - Copper Enamel Jewellery Making on February 16 at Benaulim with French Artist Delphine Geoffray as the resource person.

Delphine will teach the participants to work with beaten copper, colourful enamel and a customised kiln for baking of the jewellery. Known for her intricate handcrafting on copper, coated with enamel and her contemporary take on the jewellery process,

Delphine has taken this technique to the next level by experimenting with copper enamelling and contemporary motifs.

The workshop will deep dive into the exquisite art of copper enameled jewellery. Participants will learn how to work with this new material, how to treat their jewellery in the kiln and have the pleasure of taking their one-of-a-kind personal piece of art back home. From earrings to necklaces, to pendants to bangles, enthusiastic learners who are keen to explore the intricate and exquisite world of copper and enamel jewellery can participate in this beauty enhancing fun learning. Individual attention will be paid to each participant in two batches of three hours each with the course fee inclusive of materials. The first batch will be from 9 am - 12 noon and second batch will be from 3 pm - 6 pm.
