Substitute Clencio Pinto scored the winner as Santa Cruz Club, Cavelossim beat Guardian Angel Sports Club 2-1 in a Goa Professional League (Round 5) match at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday. At half time, there was no score.
Cavelossim keeper, Ram Sroop made a double save to thwart the scoring opportunity of Esteven Mendes in the 2nd minute. A long shot from Joshua Vaz came along in the 14th minute which was well blocked by Guardian Angel keeper, Jovial Coutinho. In the 24th minute, Guardian Angel's Mairon Fernandes headed wide a ball sent to him by Inacio Colaco. In the first half, both the teams had three shots apeice on goal.
Post resumption, Cavelossim made a double substitution as Mathew Colaco was exhanged with Melwin Fernandes and simultaneously Joel Fernandes was swapped with Clencio Pinto.
In the 54th minute, Guardian Angel's Godfrey Silva was yellow carded for a foul tackle. In the 56th minute, Guardian Angel made their first replacement by pulling out Mairon Fernandes and sending in Meclon Colaco.
In the 58th minute, Cavelossim scored an own goal when Rovan Pereira netted in a back cross given to him by his teammate, opening the score tally for the rival team. Ten minutes later, Cavelossim’s Joshua Vaz beat the rival keeper, Jovial and scored the equalizer.
A minute later, Michael Faleiro was yellow carded by referee Prasad Surlekar for a rough tackle on Guardian Angel's Godfrey Silva.
In the 84th minute, the substitute Clencio Pinto neatly tapped in the ball to increase the lead for Cavelosim to make the score 2-1.
