Jamshedpur FC played confidently and converted the chances that came their way to comfortably drub Raman Vijayan Soccer School 4-1 in a Group II Play-off match of the Elite Youth U-18 League at SAG Ground, Utorda on Tuesday. The teams were tied 1-1 at half time.

Jamshedpur strikers were sharp upfront and in the very 6th minute, attacking midfielder Chaitan Hansdah slotted past the rival goalkeeper of Raman Vijyan with a snap shot. However their joy was short-lived as five minutes later, opposition captain Siva Sarthin beat goalkeeper Shivnanadan Yadav with a clinical finish to level

the score.

Stunned by the equaliser, Jamshedpur went on the attack and made many threatening moves in the opposition box. However, the steel colts were not clinical with their finish in the final third. However, they did take the confidence of being the more dominant side into the break.

The second half saw the Jamshedpur lads tighten up and they scored three more goals to seal the tie. Post resumption, Jamshedpur were in total command and enjoyed the lion’s share of exchanges. Chaitan Hansdah, who was in the thick of action, struck a second time when he converted a spot kick in the 45th minute to regain the lead.

In the 50th minute, Samarjit Khangembam Singh added the third when he sent the rival goalkeeper the wrong way and put the ball in the goal. Captain Pukrambam Mansiana then picked up the ball from Chaitan and punted the ball to the far corner of the net in the 56th minute, 4-1.

Earlier, Kerala Blasters FC and Shillong Lajong FC played out a goalless draw. The teams were meticulous in their approach but did not find a way to break down the rival defence. With both sets of defenders holding sway, the strikers at either end were left frustrated as the match ended without a goal.
