The Economic Offences Cell at Panaji has transferred a case of cheating to the Vasco police for further investigation.

According to information, Anant Toraskar, an ex-employee of Goa Shipyard Ltd and his wife Pushpa Toraskar, both from New Vaddem, had lodged their complaint with the Economic Offences Cell Panaji, stating that a person along with other three accomplices had allegedly cheated them to the tune of Rs 29 lakh on pretext of getting benefit in the DVA case filed by their daughter, besides also assuring to provide their daughter a government job.

The complainant had further stated that the accused persons had assured the complainants to get a Portuguese passport for their daughter and also of their grandchildren, but they failed to do so and have cheated them of

Rs 29 lakh.

As the complaint did not reveal the involvement of cheating by NBFC, the Economic Offences Cell decided to transfer the case to the Vasco police station, requesting to initiate further necessary action against the accused persons.

While transferring the case to Vasco police, the police inspector of Economic Offences Cell has said that the complaint was self

explanatory.
