Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Councillor Sandesh Mesta on Saturday said the garbage issue plaguing the residents of Sada would soon be a thing of the past.

Speaking to media on Saturday, Mesta said there were a lot of reports circulated on social media on the rising garbage dump at Sada and added that the information was being blown out of proportion by some residents.

“Mormugao MLA and Urban Development Minister Milind Naik had provided Rs 5 crore as grants to MMC through the DMA for garbage segregation and MMC is in the process of sorting out the garbage issue on top priority,” said Mesta.

“In fact, the minister had also recently said there is an ongoing process to identify a huge plot of around 1 lakh sq mtrs to have a top class garbage treatment plant exclusively for Mormugao taluka.”

“The minister had convened a meeting with the MMC in this regards, so that this project becomes a reality. People have to support this issue and if we get a plot available and a good garbage treatment plant in this constituency, the garbage issue will be resolved and garbage will also be shifted,” said Mesta.
