Goan swimmer Shrungi Bandekar and Suman Patil won a bronze each to take the State’s tally to six in the ongoing Khelo India Youth Games in Pune on Saturday.

Shrungi clinched the bronze medal in U-17 girls 400m IM with a timing of 5:25:20, finishing third behind Apeksha Fernandes (Maharashtra, 5.23.36) and Kanye Nayyar (MP, 5.24.54). In the girls U-21 100m freestyle event, Suman Patil opened her medal account with a third-place finish after a couple of medals eluded her on the first two days of the competition. She clocked 1:03:16, finishing behind Sadhvi Dhuri (Maharashtra 1:01:02) and Deeksha Ramesh (Karnataka 1:02:68).

Another Goan swimmer Saachi Gramopadhye came in 5th in 400 IM with a timing of 6:05:64. Meanwhile, in boys U-17 4×100m medley relay, Goa (Shoan Ganguly, Sagar Patil, Yash Gaonkar, Atharv Desai) were placed seventh.

Goa is yet to win a gold medal in the Games. The State contingent now has six medals -- three silver and three bronze -- to its credit.
