Curchorem Youth CC registered a rather easy five-wicket win over Seiko in a GCA A Division match played at Sanguem ground on Monday.
In a match reduced to 35 overs due to a moisture-laden wicket, Curchorem on winning the toss chose to field. Seiko scored 229/7 in the allotted 35 overs.
For Seiko, Omkar Bhandari top-scored with 53 (74b) while Sarvana S struck a blitzkrieg 20-ball 44 with Vishwas notching up 43 (51b) and Sudanshu G playing a nine-ball unbeaten 25 cameo for a competitive score.
In the Curchorem attack, Pranav Bhice picked up three wickets at a pricey 59 runs in his six overs while Sandeep Dalal proved more cost effective with 2/35 from his seven-over quota.
In reply, Curchorem’s Raju Ghodge shored up the batting with an unbeaten 72 off 62 deliveries, studded with 10 boundaries and two sixes. When the side reached the winning runs, Pranav Bhice was giving him company with a belligerent 57 not out, scored in only 32 balls with the help of seven boundaries and two heaves over the ropes. Adit Prabhu Gaonkar played his part as well with a fine 45 (37b, 4x4, 1x6). Curchorem comfortably reached the target with eight balls to spare and five wickets in hand.
