A workshop on the basics of screenplay writing was conducted by Naveen Gupta, AIR, New Delhi, in Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem, recently. The 3-hour workshop which saw the participation of over 75 students, and staff, dealt with story, elements of screenplay writing, character delineation, the notion of the hero, and a comparison between hollywood and bollywood. The presentation was replete with anecdotes from the film industry. Gupta screened and analyzed clips from Sholay, Deewar, Fugitive, and Good Will Hunting. Gupta was felicitated by the principal, Dr Sr Aradhana AC and the staff of the department of English who helmed the event. Dr Brian Mendonca, faculty member of the department of English introduced the resource person. Alvina Almeida, BSc student, proposed the vote of thanks.
