Ambelim Sports Club hammered St Anthony’s Sports Club, Assolda 3-1 to storm into the finals of Mandopa Cup inter village football tournament, orgnaised by Mandopa Sports Club, at Mandopa Ground, on Sunday. Ambelim Sports Club led 2-0 at the breather.
Ambelim Sports Club came into their own and wrested completed dominance, scoring twice in the first half. Ambelim, who were clearly better organised in both attack and defence, took the lead through Nial Cardozo in the 12th minute when he unleashed a power-packed shot into the net. Minutes later, Parryson Fernandes doubled the lead with a stiff shot.
Crossing over, St Anthony’s put up an improved display and raided the rival goal many a times and in the 51st minute, Succor Fernandes bulged the net. Unfazed by the setback, Ambelim went into an attacking mode and Steven Pinto struck the third goal to complete the victory.
Ambelim will now meet the winners of the match between Rossmann Cruz Nagoa Verna and Betalbatim Sports Club in the finals on December 23.
