South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) Member Secretary Ashok Kumar on Thursday descended in the wholesale fish market on Thursday to sound a warning to the fish traders that the PDA would go in for the revocation of the NOC if the traders continue to park their fish trucks in the market.
The SGPDA Member Secretary with official Paul Gomes in tow descended in the wholesale fish market on Thursday after taking serious cognizance of reports that the wholesale fish traders have violated one of the conditions in the NOC that they will not park their vehicles in the market after business hours.
The PDA member secretary issued the warning to the fish traders that the PDA will have no option than to go for the revocation of the NOC issued to the traders to assemble and conduct business in the wholesale fish market. “I have conveyed a message loud and clear to the fish traders that they should either adhere to the conditions in the permission or risk revocation of the NOC”, Ashok Kumar informed.
The PDA action comes against the backdrop of a report prepared by the office staff stating that the fish traders have not adhered to the condition in the NOC which bars vehicular parking in the PDA market after business hours at 10 am.
The business timings for the fish traders have been imposed by the PDA in the permission after the PDA took note of complaints that the fish importing trucks parked in the market store unsold fish, only to be opened for sale the next day.
Sources do not rule out the possibility of the PDA Member Secretary submitting a report of the violation of the condition in the NOC before the Authority meeting to initiate appropriate action against the traders.
