Colva Sarpanch, 11 others booked

MARGAO: The Colva police have registered a FIR against 12 persons, including Colva Sarpanch Antonio Fernandes, activist Judith Almeida and three panchayat members in connection with the incidents which culminated in the demolition of the wall at Gandaulim on November 24.

The 12 persons have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly with common motive), 447 (criminal trespass), 352 (assault), 352 (breach of peace), 504 (insult), 323 (causing hurt) and 427 (mischief). The Colva police have acted on a complaint lodged by Parixit Pai Fondekar against the 12 persons in connections with the incidents at the property on November 24.

In the meantime, the Sarpanch and six others, including the panchayat members have moved for anticipatory bail before the South Goa Sessions Court. The bail applications had come up for hearing on Wednesday, but have since been adjourned by the court.

Colva PI Filomena Costa informed that the Colva police is investigating the case.
