A lawyer from Ribandar, Sahish Mahambrey on Thursday filed a complaint under the Prevention of Corruption Act before the Panaji sub-divisional police officer (SPDO) accusing Commissioner of the Corporation of the City of Panjai (CCP) Ajit Roy, IAS, and a junior engineer Shruti Harmalkar of allowing the erection of a Jio mobile tower despite a ‘stop work’ order.

Mahambre alleged that although the CCP had issued a “work stoppage order” with immediate effect work to erect the tower at Sinari Apartments in Ribandar was continuing unhindered.

The tower which was constructed had no permission either from the NGPDA, the Goa State Pollution Control Board, the telecom authority or the CCP, Mahambrey claimed in the complaint. Mahambrey has also stated that though Roy and Harmalkar wanted to legalise the tower on the terrace, the same is not possible.

He said, provision of section 13D of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 read with section 34 of the IPC were attracted by the actions of Roy and Harmalkar.

When contacted, the Panaji SPDO, Nelson Albuquerque said although his office had received the complaint, he was yet to verify the contentions made in it.
