Goa Tourism Development Corporation chairman, Dayanand Sopte on Friday claimed that the differences between him and former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who has threatened to oppose his candidature in the impending bye-poll in Madrem constituency will be ironed out in the next three-four days.

“Top BJP leaders are on the job and will succeed in pacifying the former CM,” Sopte said on the sidelines of a function held to launch e-cycles.

Parsekar, whom Sopte had defeated in the 2017 assembly elections, has raised a banner of revolt in the saffron party, after the latter quit as Congress MLA and was inducted into the BJP recently. Parsekar, who is part of a core group of leaders credited with building the party in Goa since the early 1990s, is upset that he was kept in the dark over the move to induct Sopte in the party.

He has demanded, on record, the replacement of Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar as the president of the State unit terming him “incompetent” to steer the party organisation.

“Our party leaders are in touch with the Parsekar. I hope within the next three-four days they will solve the issue,” Sopte said.

Asked whether he has approached Parsekar personally Sopte said: “Parsekar is my leader now and he was CM of Goa. I have not met him personally but the leadership of the party will intervene.”
