Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao has advised altar servers to be always close to Jesus, as they have the privilege to experience Him closely during the Eucharistic celebration.

Around 260 altar servers, both boys and girls from around 50 parishes of Goa participated in the programme on the theme “Come and Discover.”

The archbishop also interacted with the altar servers during the event.

Earlier, the altar servers were picked up at three different points by bus from Panaji, Mapusa and Margao. Director of St Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre Fr Henry Falcao welcomed the altar servers and briefed them about the history of the renewal centre.

The VCDC Director Fr Derrick Fernandes also welcomed the altar servers. The altar servers were divided into 12 groups bearing the names of the Apostles. Later in the evening, games and group activities were conducted in these groups, which was followed by a candle-lit rosary conducted by Fr Edwin Pereira.

On Sunday morning, a morning meditation on nature was conducted by Fr Derrick Fernandes. Later during the day, a session on Biblical personalities was presented by Eliot and Lavina Gonsalves from Assagao.

A programme was staged by the 12 groups comprising skits, shadow play, dance, group song, jokes etc, The VCDC director later proposed the vote of thanks.
