Jammu & Kashmir trail Goa by 222 runs with one day’s play remaining in their Elite Group C Ranji Trophy match at Porvorim. At stumps on Wednesday, J&K were 246/7 after the hosts declared their first innings on 468/9d.

Irfan Pathan was not out on 42 while Aamir Aziz has 22 runs against his name as the visitors find themselves in a spot of bother. Goa, who had lost their opening match away to Uttar Pradesh, are looking poised for first-innings lead if not an outright win as Lakshay Garg and Amogh Desai picked up two wickets each, while Krishna Das, Darshan Misal and Amulya Pandrekar gave a good account of themselves and will hope to wrap up their rivals as early as possible in the morning.

Earlier, overnight centurion Snehal Kauthankar remained unbeaten on 130 runs as Goa declared their innings after an addition of 46 runs to their total.
