Having received State Art award four times for print media on social topics Sunil is the member of the ‘Ads of the World’ for the past 15 years. He won award as the best film director for topic ‘Save Women’ at Chota Cinema Centre IFFI and also bagged several awards in local social film competitions in Goa on women development. He bagged the best director and best creative concept award at Pune Short Film Festival (PSFF) at the National Film Archieves of India. His short film with social message, ‘Save the Girl Child’ was officially nominated for international competition in Vasudha Award competition section and was listed in top 10 films in IFFI. His short film ‘Why Me’ won accolades at the 3rd Pune Short Film Festival.

“The film ‘Why Me’ doesn’t even use dialogues and one can watch it without sound and still grasps what it wants to say. Such is the power of the short films,” says Sunil who voices strongly against the atrocities that society inflicts upon women and hence tries to portray women related issues in his films, sending a social message.

“Women, especially those in subordinate positions are often treated as commodities and used and abused. I try to steer my advertising projects or short films away from such themes. I also feel that just four minutes are more than enough to express a good idea on the subject,” quips Sunil who has also sent his films in Cannes Film Festival and also to the US.

“Appreciation, play the role of guide and also the manure, which tells us that you are on the right track, so every award gives the vision to go ahead. And I am really thankful to Kala Academy for giving the space to show my talent,” expresses this State Art Awardee artist whose artwork was displayed recently at the Kala Academy art gallery.
