A two-wheeler rider, hailing from Karwar, was arrested on charges of knocking down a pedestrian at Dapot-Mashem, who succumbed to injuries while being shifted to Hospicio at Margao late Monday evening.
According to Canacona police, Jivan Talekar (32) of Hosali-Karwar was proceeding towards Karwar on his scooter (GA-08 W-7125), upon reaching the petrol pump at Dapot-Mashem, he knocked down pedestrain Ofel Barretto (75).
She sustained head injuries and was rushed to the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) and passed away while being shifted from CHC Canacona to Hospicio at Margao.
Talekar was arrested on charges of riding his two-wheeler in a rash and negligent manner and was later released on producing a surety.
The offence is registered under section 279, 304A IPC and PSI Dhiraj Devidas is investigating under the supervision of Canacona PI Rajendra Prabhudesai.
