Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar chaired his first official meeting since being discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, albeit at his private residence in Dona Paula chairing a ‘continued’ meeting of the Investment Promotion Board on Tuesday.

A photograph released by the Chief Minister’s office showed a feeble Parrikar held up by cushions as he slumped on a couch while other members of the Investment Promotion Board sat at some distance discussing projects.

Parrikar who has not made any public appearances since he was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on October 14, had chaired the same meeting via video conference last week.

Speaking to reporters after emerging from the meeting, Minister of Information Technology and vice chairman of the IPB Rohan Khaunte said that the Chief Minister was ‘very good’.

“His health is good. He has chaired the meeting effectively. We have held a one to one and a half hour meeting, that itself tells of the health status of the Chief Minister. He has given certain directions of what needs to be done, based on how we need to go about. These types of meetings will be continuously held,” Khaunte said.

A statement by the IPB later revealed that a total of 13 projects were placed before the Board for decision. These included 11 new investment proposals and review of two proposals previously approved by the Board.

“The Board has recommended approval of 7 of the 11 new proposals entailing a total investment of approximately Rs 230 crore and which will create additional employment of around 400 people. Three of the four other new proposals were deferred for a decision in the next meeting of the Board. One project proposal was rejected by the Board,” the statement released by the CEO of the Board revealed.

The CM had last week chaired the same meeting via video conference. Today’s meet was a continuation of the videoconferencing meeting.

IPB, Cabinet meet at CM’s

residence a farce: Congress

The Congress on Tuesday slammed claims of the government that the Chief Minister would chair the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) meet at his private residence on Tuesday, and a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, calling both a “farce”

Addressing media persons, Congress spokesperson Adv Yatish Naik, once again condemned the government’s lack of transparency with regard to the CM’s health while also raising doubts about the CM resuming work from November   >> See pg 3
