Gold worth ` 22L seized at Dabolim Airport

The Goa Customs on Tuesday seized 755 gms of gold worth around Rs 22 lakh at the Dabolim Airport on Tuesday. 
According to Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Dr Raghavendra P, the gold was in the form of three cut pieces. 
“While performing duties, officers of Goa Customs headed by me and under the supervision of T R Gajalakshmi, Additional Commissioner of Customs, intercepted an international passenger. The passenger had arrived by an Air Arabia flight G9-0492 on Tuesday. A search of the backpack of the passenger resulted in recovery of three gold cut pieces weighing 755 grams and valued at Rs 22,04,592, “ Dr Raghavendra said adding that the entire exercise was conducted under the overall guidance of Commissioner of Customs (Goa) R Manohar.
Dr Raghavendra also informed that Goa Customs at the Airport has so far seized 5.75 kgs of gold valued at Rs 1.7 crore, foreign currency worth Rs 36.38 Iakh and commercial goods in trade quantity worth Rs 38 lakh since April 2018.
