Anshuman, Nagesh reach sub junior boys semi-finals

Anshuman Agarwal and Nagesh Verenkar booked their spot in the sub junior boys semi-finals on Day 6 of Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Table Tennis Championship. 

Anshuman was hardly tested by Advait Mudras and won his last-eight clash 3-0 (11-3, 11-4, 11-3). In the second quarter-finals match, Nagesh Verenkar defeated Nathan Barua 3-0 (11-5, 11-4, 11-5). Day 7 of the championship will see junior boys in action. Matches are scheduled between 4 pm and 8.30 pm in the 

evening.  

Earlier Day 5 of the TT championship saw exciting matches between cadet girls and sub junior girls where in cadet girls category Trusha Hammanavar and Simran Kubal made their way to finals. On their way, Trusha Hammanavar defeated Anushri Naik 3-2 (11-5, 11-6, 5-11, 10-12, 11-3) while Simran Kubal defeated Urvi Surlakar 3-1 (11-9, 11-5, 8-11, 

11-9). 

In sub junior girls category, Sneha Rane and Simran Kubal moved into the finals. Sneha Rane defeated Sanisha Shetye 3-2 (8-11, 11-8, 11-6, 6-11, 11-7) and Simran Kubal also defeated Janvi Naik Dalal 3-2 (11-3, 11-9, 8-11, 7-11, 11-6).

The table tennis championship is an annual fixture in the State’s sports calendar and includes eleven categories. Prizes collectively amounting to Rs 43,000 will be awarded to winners in the various 

categories.
