With BJP President Amit Shah maintaining status quo on the party leadership issue in the State, Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai said the regional party’s opposition to any stop gap arrangement in the absence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stands vindicated.

The TCP Minister further made it clear that the Goa Forward Party and the Independents would continue to oppose any temporary political arrangement being made to run the state administration in the absence of the Chief Minister.

“The Goa Forward party had been consistent in its opposition to any temporary political arrangement in the absence of the Chief Minister. What the BJP president has announced only vindicates our stand”, Sardesai told The Goan.

When his attention was drawn to reports that the MGP has welcomed the BJP decision, Sardesai shot back “the MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar should carefully read the BJP President’s message. He should read between the lines”.

The TCP Minister declined to comment when his attention was drawn to the fact that Amit Shah has only pushed the issue of leadership to the backburner. “I have nothing to say. Let us wait and see”, he said, adding “for the moment, the BJP decision has vindicated our stand”.

The G-6 comprising of the Goa Forward three Ministers, Vijai Sardesai, Jayesh Salgaocar and Vinod Paliencar, besides the three Independents, Ministers Rohan Khaunte and Govind Gawde and Prasad Gaonkar had come out openly against any decision that would elevate PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar to any position in the stop gap arrangement.
