Goa to participate in wheelchair basketball nats for first time

The Goan men’s team that will represent Goa at the Fifth National Wheelchair Basketball Championship to be held in Erode, Tamil Nadu, was announced on Wednesday. 

This is the first time that Goa will participate in the National Wheelchair Basketball Championship. The team was selected after the two day workshop the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India (WBFI) held for players for the first time at Bambolim recently.   

The players who have been selected to represent Goa are : Vishant Nagvekar, Gopal Naik, Oliver Nelson D Souza, Hadish Habib Mohammad, Mohammed Imran, Sayad Mosik Ahmad Maui, Jonathan D’costa, Moises Rodriguez, Prakash Kundaikar, and Surendra Kasare.   

The championship, to be held from September 20 to 23, will see men’s teams from 19 states participate, and women’s teams from 8 states. While there were 15 men who attended the two-day wheelchair basketball workshop, there was just one woman.
