The Margao police on Monday busted a prostitution racket in the heart of the commercial capital when the men in uniform arrested two persons and rescued as many victims from the guest house.
Acting on a tip off, Margao PI Kapil Nayak informed that the police have arrested Jayesh Verlekar, the owner of the guest house, located on the station road, at
Pimpalkatta.
The police also arrested one Vishwajit Biswas, who was found in the guest house in a compromising position when the police conducted the raid.
PI Kapil said that the owner has been arrested for using the guest house as a brothel and making a living from the earnings of prostitution.
While Jayesh and Vishwajit have been nabbed under the Suppression of the Immoral Trafficking Act, the two rescued victims were later sent to the Women’s Protective Home, Merces.
The police are conducting further investigations.
